  • Under our three-year project “Trade union and advocate – for members, media and democracy” that is being implemented by the GPU and its partner the Gambia Media Support (GAMES) with funding from the Civil Society in Development (CISU), we are supporting our affiliates to conduct training programmes for their members.

  • From June 22-23, the Women Journalists Association of The Gambia (WOJAG), a GPU affiliate, is conducting a training on "Women and Children Reporting". It is aimed at empowering female journalists to better tell the stories of women and children in The Gambia.

In May, the GPU conducted several trainings to build the capacity of its affiliates on a number of topics including (i) fundraising strategies, anti-corruption and bookkeeping procedures, (ii) Communication strategies; (iii) Conflict and crisis management; and (iv) Advocacy strategies.

The President of the Gambia Press Union, Muhammed S. Bah, said the trainings were a "stepping stone" for the affiliates to develop themselves and to use the opportunity to ensure positive impact in the implementation of various programmes in their associations.
