  • GPU Board, Staff Trained on Monitoring and Evaluation
  • The executive board and staff of Gambia Press Union (GPU) on Saturday, 25 April, ended a three-day training on monitoring and evaluation of donor-funded projects in line with its strategic plan of strengthening the institutional capacity of the union.

    The 15-participant training at TANGO Conference Hall observed social distancing in the sitting arrangement, and in addition, face masks and sanitisers were provided.

  • GPU re-echoes call for journalism without fear or favour

    Banjul, May 03: Today marks the 27th edition of World Press Freedom Day (WPFD). May 3rd has been set aside by the United Nations to pay tribute to journalism and journalists who have been killed in line of duty.

  • GPU holds 14th anniversary of Deyda Hydara
  • The Gambia Press Union on Sunday, 23 December 2018, held a symposium in commemoration of the 14th anniversary of the assassination of Deyda Hydara, co-owner of The Point newspaper.

    The theme for this year’s anniversary was: ‘Safety of Journalists: National Response to End Crimes against Journalists’ and it was held at Djembe Beach Hotel.

  • Cluster Members Trained on Access to Information
  • Gambia Press Union on Friday July 3rd ended a three-day sensitization workshop on Access to Information 2019 draft Bill, with members of the coalition of civil society organisations at the NaNA conference hall in Fajara. 

    The workshop is in line with series of activities scheduled to compliment the process of the development and passage of the Bill. All the necessary COVID19 measures were observed during the training.
