Notice is hereby given to all bone-fide members of the Gambia Press Union of the Annual General Meeting and Congress in fulfillment of Article 11(2) and Part V (3) of the GPU Constitution.

As per Part V (1) of the Constitution, elections will be conducted at the Congress for all elected positions on the GPU Executive Board. These are:
- President;
- Vice-President;
- Treasurer; and
- Five Ordinary Members
The Union will engage the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for the purposes of conducting the election and announcing results.
Journalists and members of the Union should take note of the following constitutional provisions:
- Only paid-up full members of the Union shall be entitled to vote or be voted for
- Anyone who wishes to vie for any elective position within the GPU board shall declare his or her candidature [to the GPU secretariat] at least two weeks before Congress or AGM
- The Secretariat shall publish names of eligible candidates [for all the positions] one week before Congress or AGM
- Any member who wishes to object to the candidature [of any of the candidates] shall do so one week before Congress or AGM
- The Secretariat shall publish the voter list at least seven working days before Congress or AGM
- A member wishing to propose a motion shall give notice and details thereof to the Board in writing at least ten (10) working days before the date of the Annual General Meeting (or Congress)
- Notwithstanding the above provision, the Chairperson of the Board may in her/his discretion allow a motion or motions to be proposed at the Annual General Meeting even where the requisite notice has not been given
- A minimum of seven working (7) days’ written notice of all motions to be considered shall be communicated to delegates and published [by the board] in at least three major media outlets prior to the AGM.

Day two, 31st October, 2024:
- Presentation and adoption of the three-year activity report
- Presentation and adoption of the three-year financial report
- Election for the Executive Board
Note:
- The first day of the meeting is open to all media workers, regardless of whether one is a registered member of the GPU or not.
- Members who have not fully paid their dues are given until October 25, 2024 to do so.
