Notice is hereby given to all bona fide members of the Gambia Press Union, GPU (media workers and journalism students) that the next General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 3rd May, 2025. The meeting will be preceded by a Seminar to mark World Press Freedom Day 2025.
This invitation to attend both the Seminar and the General Meeting is extended to all media workers and journalism associations regardless of whether or not they are officially affiliated to the GPU.
This year the World Press Freedom Day global commemoration focuses on the profound influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on journalism and media under the theme: Reporting in the Brave New World – The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media
Discussions will be held on the theme as well as how the Gambian media can utilise AI to enhance their work. A second topic of discussion will focus on Media Freedom and Responsibility.

Media workers and media representative who wish to participate in this event are urged to come on time. Both the seminar is scheduled to start at 9am to 11am and the general meeting from 11am to 1pm – to create enough room for journalists and spectators scheduled to attend Gambia’s CHAN team play later that afternoon at the Stadium to do so.

Note: Both activities are open to all media workers, regardless of whether one is a registered member of the GPU or not. Where a vote is required on any decision during the general meeting, only paid-up members would be allowed to vote.
